Monticello extends road losing streak to four

Recap: Monticello Panthers vs. Goshen Central Gladiators

The Monticello Panthers lost against the Goshen Central Gladiators back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Monticello took a hard 50-33 fall against Goshen Central. Monticello has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Amiah Neails, who scored 14 points. Neails scored a full 42.4% of Monticello's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Isabella Velasquez, who scored ten points along with five steals.

Monticello's loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-4. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.8 points per game. As for Goshen Central, their win bumped their record up to 1-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monticello will be home for the holidays to greet Eldred at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New York (Eldred is ranked 320th, while Monticello is ranked 296th). As for Goshen Central, they will play host again and welcome Valley Central, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
