Baseball Recap: Menasha Drops Season-High Score on West De Pere

Menasha took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against West De Pere, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bluejays sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Phantoms on Tuesday. The Bluejays' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Ethan Olszweski made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Menasha is 2-1 when Olszweski allows two or fewer hits, but 0-6 otherwise. Olszweski was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Olszweski wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Trevor DeBriyn, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Owen Aykens was another, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

Menasha's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-7. As for West De Pere, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-5.
