Basketball Recap: Hamilton Comes Up Short

Hamilton lost against Westchester back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Hamilton Yankees were beaten by the Westchester Comets 83-42. While losing is never fun, the Yankees can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 646th, while the Comets are ranked 123rd).

Despite the loss, Hamilton still got an impressive performance from Michael Gooden, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 boards. Gooden is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Matthew Thierry was another key player, putting up five points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Hamilton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in November of 2023.

Hamilton is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9. As for Westchester, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Los Angeles CES the next time they take the court. Westchester will host Los Angeles CES at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Hamilton will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
