Basketball Game Preview: Shawnee Braves vs. Northeastern Jets

The Shawnee Braves will take on the Northeastern Jets in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Shawnee is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Graham Local on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Shawnee was dealt a 67-34 defeat at the hands of Graham Local. The Braves haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Northeastern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 21st straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against Fairbanks, falling 68-13. The Jets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-10.

They used a three-pronged attack on offense: Allie Peterson, Chloe Waugh, and Danielle Phelan posted three points each. Aubri Spence held things down on the boards with four rebounds.

Northeastern's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Shawnee, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Shawnee was able to grind out a solid win over Northeastern when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 45-36. Does Shawnee have another victory up their sleeve, or will Northeastern turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
