Baseball Recap: Oak Grove Wins Going Away Against Pearl

Oak Grove got themselves on the board against Pearl on Tuesday, but Pearl never followed suit. They blew past the Pearl Pirates 10-0. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.

Maddox Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in February. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Eric Booth Jr and Kendrell Roberts did most of the damage at the plate: Booth Jr scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Roberts went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Booth Jr is becoming a predictor of Oak Grove's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Kelly, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Oak Grove is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. Pearl's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Oak Grove will have a chance to go back-to-back against Pearl: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
