Baseball Game Preview: Wesson Cobras vs. Lawrence County Cougars

For the second straight game, Wesson will face off against Lawrence County. The Cobras will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

On Tuesday, Wesson came up short against Lawrence County and fell 9-4. The Cobras have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

For Lawrence County's part, Weston Dunaway made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Dunaway has posted since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Drake Wilson was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyne Calcote, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Having lost for the first time this season, Wesson fell to 1-1-1. As for Lawrence County, they now have a winning record of 1-0-1.
