Basketball Game Preview: Queen's Grant Stallions vs. Piedmont Community Charter Patriots

Queen's Grant found their leader in freshman Chase Smith, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 16 rebounds. Smith is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last 16 games he's played. Ian Howard was another key player, going 8 for 13 to rack up 17 points and seven boards.

Meanwhile, Piedmont Community Charter played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Queen's Grant and fell 99-54. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 362nd, while the Stallions are ranked 66th).

Queen's Grant pushed their record up to 20-7 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 84.7 points over those games. As for Piedmont Community Charter, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.
