Baseball Recap: Draughn Extends Winning Streak to Three

Draughn entered their tilt with Avery County on Tuesday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Avery County Vikings an 11-0 shutout. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Tate Jensen made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Draughn is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-4 otherwise. Jensen was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Jacob Mull was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Griffin Stephens, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-2.

Draughn's record now sits at 4-5. As for Avery County, their loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Draughn will welcome Avery County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Avery County, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Cloudland at 4:00 p.m. Avery County is facing Cloudland at the right time seeing as Cloudland is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
