Baseball Recap: Pima Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Pima entered their tilt with Miami on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Vandals. The Roughriders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Vandals, too.

Ramon Hernandez made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Rhiley Good and Tanner Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Good went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Smith went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Smith has become a key player for Pima: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 5-10 otherwise. Aiden Alder was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Pima kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive contests.

Pima's record is now 8-10. As for Miami, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Pima will welcome Lincoln Prep at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. The Roughriders will need to watch out since the Lightning have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Miami, they will square off against Alchesay at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
