Softball Recap: Hammond Bishop Noll Comes Up Short

Hammond Bishop Noll extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 6-8 in the process. They came up short against the Illiana Christian Vikings, falling 20-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Warriors were not able to get on the board.

Hammond Bishop Noll saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caitlyn Walker, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

As for Illiana Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-7. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Illiana Christian's side, Cayden Petersen made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Petersen was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Lydia VanderWoude was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and two stolen bases. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lexy Miedema, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

While Hammond Bishop Noll had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
