Basketball Game Preview: Sierra Vista Dons vs. Bloomington Bruins

The Sierra Vista Dons will face off against the Bloomington Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sierra Vista will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.

Sierra Vista is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They breezed past Mesa Grande Academy to the tune of 71-44. The Dons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 20 points or more this season.

Sierra Vista found their leader in sophomore Ethan Guevara, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Guevara a new career-high in field goal percentage (91%). Aaron Buna was another key player, going 5-for-9 on his way to 11 points.

Sierra Vista smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 11 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Bloomington strolled past Colton with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 59-42. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bruins.

Sierra Vista's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points over those games. As for Bloomington, their win bumped their record up to 16-11.

Sierra Vista beat Bloomington 57-46 in their previous matchup back in December of 2016. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Bloomington's Jorge Leon, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds.
