Basketball Game Preview: Cummings Cavaliers vs. Northwood Chargers

Cummings is 0-4 against Northwood since December of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Cummings Cavaliers will be playing at home against the Northwood Chargers at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Cummings is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They lost to Chatham Central on the road by a 55-38 margin. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 417th, while the Bears are ranked 166th).

Meanwhile, after a string of 11 wins, Northwood's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Washington by a score of 68-66.

Cummings' loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Northwood, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-2.

Cummings might still be hurting after the 64-41 loss they got from Northwood when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Cummings, Drake Powell (who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 12 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
