Basketball Recap: South Newton Takes a Loss

South Newton lost against Faith Christian back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The South Newton Rebels took a 63-46 bruising from the Faith Christian Eagles. The Rebels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why South Newton lost, don't look at Matthew Armstrong. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 29 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Armstrong a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (33%).

Faith Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gabe Miller led the charge by shooting 69% from the field to rack up 25 points. Faith Christian is 2-1 when Miller posts 20 or more points, but 3-16 otherwise. Luke Miller was another key player, putting up 16 points along with six assists and five steals.

South Newton's record now sits at 4-16. As for Faith Christian, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-17.

South Newton has already played their next contest, a 74-21 win against Tri-Township on the 25th. As for Faith Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 58-25 victory against North White on the 27th.
