Football Recap: Eastern Alamance Comes Up Short at Home Against Eastern Guilford

Eastern Alamance unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 20-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eastern Guilford Wildcats on Friday. The Eagles were not able to make up for their loss to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in October of 2016.

Even if they lost, Eastern Alamance's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Eastern Guilford's QB won't forget Trinity Totten anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Totten has been hot, having also posted six or more total tackles the last five times he's played. Isaiah Hairston was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Eastern Guilford's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Javion Majette led the charge by rushing for 47 yards and one TD, while also throwing for 101 yards and one touchdown. Those 47 rushing yards gave Majette a new career-high. Eastern Guilford also got a significant boost from Tyler Whaley-Melvin, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 101 yards.

Eastern Alamance didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 20-7 defeat against Northeast Guilford on the 29th. As for Eastern Guilford, they have also already played their next contest, a 20-14 win against Williams on the 29th.
