Basketball Game Preview: Thatcher Eagles vs. Palo Verde Titans

The Thatcher Eagles will square off against the Palo Verde Titans at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Thatcher and eight for Palo Verde.

Thatcher is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Pusch Ridge Christian Academy on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Thatcher came up short against Pusch Ridge Christian Academy, falling 58-36. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 180th, while the Lions are ranked 28th).

Meanwhile, Palo Verde lost to Florence at home by a 39-23 margin on Friday.

Thatcher's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Palo Verde, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-15.

Everything came up roses for Thatcher against Palo Verde in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 62-21 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Thatcher since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
