Volleyball Recap: Lone Oak Takes a Loss

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Lone Oak and Commerce, and Commerce kept the tradition alive. The Buffaloes fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Buffaloes were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Lone Oak came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-22, 26-24, 22-25, 21-25, 15-13.

Cassidi Williams paced Lone Oak's offense, picking up 26 kills. Williams got some help from Lillie Hammond and her 25 assists. Machenzie Jackson controlled things from the service line, finishing with seven aces.

Lone Oak's loss dropped their record down to 25-12. As for Commerce, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 26-13.

Coming up, after both having extra time off, Lone Oak and Gunter will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Commerce, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against North Hopkins on the 27th.
