Baseball Recap: Shawnee Mission Northwest Takes a Loss

Shawnee Mission Northwest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Blue Valley Northwest Huskies. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 12-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Shawnee Mission Northwest's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Blue Valley Northwest, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Looking ahead, Shawnee Mission Northwest will head out on the road to square off against Olathe North on Tuesday. The Cougars are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Blue Valley Northwest, they will take on Rockhurst at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Huskies will also cruise into their next matchup with the timing on their side: the Hawklets will have lost three straight heading into Thursday's contest.
