Volleyball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Corsica/Stickney's Winning Streak

If Corsica/Stickney was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Wessington Springs on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Jaguars took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tripp-Delmont/Armour Nighthawks on Thursday. The Jaguars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Nighthawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Tripp-Delmont/Armour scored at least 18 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-20, 18-25, 25-18.

Sophie Delange paced Corsica/Stickney's offense, picking up 21 kills. Delange got some help from Braylee Bordewyk and her 15 assists. Macayla Gerlach controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

The loss snapped Corsica/Stickney's winning streak at three matches and leaves them with a 11-6 record. As for Tripp-Delmont/Armour, they moved to 9-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-match losing streak.

Corsica/Stickney has already played their next match (against Gayville-Volin), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Tripp-Delmont/Armour, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Burke on the 4th.
