The Innovation Bulls will challenge the Lake Nona Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Innovation turned things around against Liberty on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Chargers a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Bulls, who have now won four matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Seiby Osorio looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Camilo Colina and Luis Rodriguez did most of the damage at the plate: Colina went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Rodriguez scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave Colina a new career-high. Tyler Nunez was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Innovation was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Lake Nona hadn't done well against Apopka recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way two weeks ago. Lake Nona narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Apopka 11-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted since February 27th.
Luis Bracho looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Marco Solorzano was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. Another player making a difference was Leonardo Suarez, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Innovation now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Lake Nona, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Innovation has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lake Nona struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
