Volleyball Recap: Fieldcrest Knights vs. Marquette Crusaders

Fieldcrest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of the Marquette Crusaders by a score of 2-1. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crusaders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Fieldcrest sadly wound up on the wrong side. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-27, 25-22.

Marquette got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Makayla Backos out in front who had 16 digs and a kill. Backos is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last five games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Kealey Rick, who had three kills, two aces, and a block.

Fieldcrest's loss dropped their record down to 8-11-1. As for Marquette, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-7.

Fieldcrest will venture away from home to take on Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Marquette, they and Dwight are set to duel on Thursday.
