Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bedford). They blew past the Richland Rams 22-4 on Monday. With that win, the Bisons brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Owen Horne made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with seven RBI and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Quincy Swaim, who got on base in three of his six plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Joey Huxta was another key player, going 1-for-5 with three RBI and one run.

Bedford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.8.

Bedford is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Richland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.

Coming up, Bedford will head out on the road to square off against Philipsburg-Osceola at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mountaineers' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Bisons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Richland, they will be playing at home against Hollidaysburg at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Tigers will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight.
