Basketball Recap: Pinecrest's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

It was a good run, but Pinecrest unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 66-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Richmond Raiders. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Patriots came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Raiders are ranked 249th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Richmond to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ahaiver McDonald, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 16 points. Amer Morrison was another key player, going 6 of 12 en route to 13 points.

Pinecrest's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5. As for Richmond, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-7.

Pinecrest will welcome Southern Lee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pinecrest is on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), Southern Lee a seven-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Richmond, they will head out to take on Hoke County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Richmond is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61 points per game this season.
