Soccer Game Preview: Vidor vs. Lumberton

Vidor is 0-10 against Lumberton since January of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Vidor Pirates will take on the Lumberton Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Vidor comes in on five and Lumberton on 11.

Vidor's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Bridge City 8-0. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by three goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, while the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was Lumberton who was credited with the victory on Monday. Lumberton got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Hardin-Jefferson's three. Addison Stewart had to tread lightly for part of the match after she was hit with a yellow card, but that was the only trouble the Raiders got from the refs.

Lumberton pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those six contests. As for Vidor, their record is now 17-2.

Vidor suffered a grim 5-0 defeat to Lumberton in their previous matchup back in February. Can Vidor avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
