Football Recap: Sycamore Comes Up Short

Sycamore extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 16 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-9. They had to suffer through a 38-0 loss at the hands of the Lakota East Thunderhawks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Aviators of the 56-12 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

As for Lakota East, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.5 points on average over those games.

Ryder Hooks continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 81 yards and one TD, while also picking up 62 receiving yards and one touchdown. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 51 yards. Another player making a difference was Nile Knutson, who threw for 169 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes.

Looking ahead, Sycamore will venture away from home to take on Mason at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lakota East, they will host Lakota West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Thunderhawks will need to watch out since the Firebirds have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games.
