Baseball Recap: Wheeler Triumphs

It was a proper cat-fight when Wheeler faced off against Tri-Township on Friday. The Bearcats skirted past the Tigers 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bearcats have posted since May 5th.

Nick Bravo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over 4.1 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Wheeler is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-14 otherwise. Bravo was also solid in the batter's box, earning one run and three stolen bases.

Wheeler's win bumped their record up to 10-15. As for Tri-Township, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-12.

Looking ahead, Wheeler will face off against Lowell at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Tri-Township, they will square off against Bowman Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.33 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
