Softball Recap: Buffalo Grove Comes Up Short

Buffalo Grove had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 3-9 to make it four. They lost 12-3 to the Palatine Pirates. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bison of the 11-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Erin Ryan was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run.

As for Palatine, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-1. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Palatine's side, Mia Woldman made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. Woldman has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Sammie Kendrick was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Eliza Piecuch was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Buffalo Grove has already played their next game, a 10-0 win against Evanston on the 18th. Palatine has also already played their next contest (against Grant Community), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
