Softball Recap: Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour Beats Dryden for Their Fifth Straight Win

Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour entered their tilt with Dryden on Wednesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Lions 15-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-1 last Thursday.

Paige Ells and Keira Ells made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Ells struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Keira pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Paige has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Ells got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Keira got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lauren Signor was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia King, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .545 or higher in five consecutive matches.

Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Dryden, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
