Basketball Recap: Rosemont Starts Season with Victory Against Encina

Rosemont had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They enjoyed a cozy 58-43 victory over the Encina Bulldogs on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wolverines also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2024.

Rosemont's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Greg Takahara, who posted 18 points. Gus Bailey was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Encina's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Smoots, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Edward Russell III, who had 13 points.

Coming up, Rosemont will be playing in front of their home fans against Florin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Encina, they are taking a road trip to face off against Chesterton Academy of Sacramento at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
