Volleyball Recap: Waverly/South Shore Takes a Loss

Waverly/South Shore was the 3-1 winner over Leola/Frederick when they last played one another back in November of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Coyotes fell 3-1 to the Titans on Tuesday. While the Coyotes didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Titans 25-18 in the first set.

Waverly/South Shore started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-23.

Jaina Johnson paced Waverly/South Shore's offense, picking up 12 kills. Johnson got some help from Marlie Riter and her 21 assists. Annie Stricherz controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Waverly/South Shore's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-18. As for Leola/Frederick, their win bumped their record up to 3-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waverly/South Shore will host Waubay/Summit at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Leola/Frederick, they will be playing at home against Sunshine Bible Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
