Basketball Recap: Osceola's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

After a string of four wins, Osceola's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. The match between them and the McCool Junction Mustangs didn't end well, with the Osceola Bulldogs falling 50-31. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 54-35 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Osceola still got an impressive performance from Addison Theis, who posted 16 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Recker, who scored four points.

Leading McCool Junction to victory were Claire Brugger and Natalie Clark. Brugger went 8 of 9 on her way to 19 points and four steals, while Clark put up 15 points along with five assists and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Brugger has scored at least a third of McCool Junction's points. Kayleigh Betka was another key player, putting up four points and four steals.

Osceola's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for McCool Junction, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Osceola has already played their next game, a 39-34 loss against East Butler on the 25th. As for McCool Junction, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 45-40 defeat against Bruning-Davenport/Shickley on the 27th.
