The Slidell Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Sumner Cowboys at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Slidell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
Slidell will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Fontainebleau on Tuesday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 13-7 margin over the Bulldogs. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Tigers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Khloe Ross made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off ten hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kyleigh Ardoin, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Imarii Spencer was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Sumner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 12-8 to Covington. That's two games in a row now that the Cowboys have lost by exactly four runs.
Kelci Solomon was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That run marked the first that she has scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Catie McCarroll, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Slidell's record now sits at 5-6. As for Sumner, they now also have a losing record of 5-6.
Slidell got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 against Sumner by a conclusive 7-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
