Softball Recap: Miramonte Find Success

With a playoff win on the line, Miramonte rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They skirted past the McKinleyville Panthers 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Matadors.

Abby Warren spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 19 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Miramonte's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Lucy Daoust, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Miramonte pushed their record up to 17-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for McKinleyville, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-14.

As of now, neither Miramonte nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
