Basketball Recap: Cash Carlson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Genoa-Hugo/Karval over Arickaree

Genoa-Hugo/Karval was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 40-30 to the Arickaree Bison. If the Pirates were looking for revenge after losing 58-35 to the Bison when the teams met back in December of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cash Carlson, who posted 14 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Carlson is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least three every time he's taken the court this season. Ryker Lockhart was another key player, putting up seven points.

Leading Arickaree to victory were JACKSON CORDELL and JACK CORAOAR. CORDELL shot 60% from the field to rack up 13 points, while CORAOAR went 6-for-12 en route to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of BRADLEY HERMES, who had six points.

Genoa-Hugo/Karval's record is now 0-3. As for Arickaree, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Genoa-Hugo/Karval has already played their next matchup, a 69-39 loss against Evangel Christian Academy on the 12th. As for Arickaree, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-28 defeat against Flatirons Academy on the 13th.
