Baseball Recap: Lathrop Comes Up Short

Lathrop made up a huge gap compared to their last game against East Buchanan, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Mules fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 10-8 on Tuesday. The Mules have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Lathrop got a good showing from Preston Hall, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Those zero earned runs gave Hall a new career-low.

On the hitting side, Josh Stone was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brody Busick, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Lathrop's defeat dropped their record down to 14-9. As for East Buchanan, they pushed their record up to 8-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, Lathrop will host West Platte at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for East Buchanan, they will venture away from home to take on Penney at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.17 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
