Baseball Game Preview: Hesston Swathers vs. Pratt Greenbacks

Hesston hasn't had much luck against Pratt recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Swathers will take on the Greenbacks at 4:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Hesston comes in on six and Pratt on ten.

Hesston barely beat Douglass the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Swathers blew past the Bulldogs 16-1 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Swathers, who have now won ten matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pratt). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Smoky Valley a 17-0 shutout on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Greenbacks with their most commanding win of the season.

Pratt's victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hesston, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.

Hesston couldn't quite finish off Pratt when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Swathers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
