Softball Preview: Granite Hills Eagles vs. Santana Sultans

The Granite Hills Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Santana Sultans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Granite Hills took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They blew past Point Loma 13-7.

Kaleigh Baugher was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Baugher has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. Baugher was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Ariana Heninger was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, a run, and a double. Audrey Smale was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Santana owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They had just enough and edged Grossmont out 2-0.

Not much got past Aurelia Dawson, who gave up just five hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Grossmont off the board.

On the hitting side, Emma Schneider was excellent, going 1-for-3 with a home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Delaney Smith, who went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and a double.

Granite Hills is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for Santana, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-14.
