Basketball Game Preview: Akiak Thunderbolts vs. Aniak Halfbreeds

Having just played yesterday, the Akiak Thunderbolts will head out on the road to face off against the Aniak Halfbreeds at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Akiak took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They secured a 47-42 W over Kalskag.

Meanwhile, Aniak entered their tilt with Akiak on Saturday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 53-49 W against the Thunderbolts.

Aniak's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points over those games. As for Akiak, their win bumped their record up to 13-4.

Akiak came up short against Aniak in their previous meeting on Saturday, falling 53-49. Can Akiak avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
