North Sanpete lost to Carbon on April 11th, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Hawks came out on top in a nail-biter against the Dinos, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hawks have posted since April 12th.
North Sanpete took Carbon into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-19, 22-25, 24-26, 15-11.
Carson Bench paced North Sanpete's offense, picking up 19 kills. Bench got some help from Sean Allred and his 36 assists. Allred was also solid from the service line: he led the team with four aces.
Several Dinos players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Grant Mathis, who had 22 assists and four digs.
North Sanpete's victory bumped their record up to 16-12. As for Carbon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-10.
The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. After both having extra time off, North Sanpete and Juan Diego Catholic will shake off the rust and duke it out at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Carbon, they will take on Wasatch Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
