Baseball Game Preview: Ludlowe Falcons vs. New Canaan Rams

The Ludlowe Falcons will take on the New Canaan Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Ludlowe's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while New Canaan has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Ludlowe had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Danbury on Monday. The Falcons put the hurt on the Hatters with a sharp 8-1 win. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Hatters recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Luke Stasko looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Joe Calabro and Dylan Davis did most of the damage at the plate: Calabro went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Davis went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Calabro has launched this season. Kieran Scruggs was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, New Canaan came up short against Norwalk on Monday and fell 4-1.

Zak Joslin was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk).

At the plate, New Canaan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Etergino, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base.

Ludlowe's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for New Canaan, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Ludlowe beat New Canaan 9-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
