Basketball Recap: Standley Lake Beats Summit for Their Third Straight Victory

Standley Lake entered their tilt with Summit on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Summit Tigers by a score of 52-39.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Standley Lake to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aaliyah Valenzuela, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 13 points and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Kameron Mireles-Ciancio, who went 7 for 13 en route to 16 points.

Standley Lake was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Summit only racked up seven assists.

Summit's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kenya Rodriguez, who posted 18 points, and Phoenix Meyer, who earned nine points and five rebounds. The game was Rodriguez's third in a row with at least ten points.

Standley Lake's victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Summit, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.

Standley Lake and Summit should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. Standley Lake (ranked 56th) will meet Wheat Ridge (ranked 321st) at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Summit will face off against Steamboat Springs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 131 places (125 vs. 256).
