Baseball Recap: Westfield Triumphs

It's playoff time, and Westfield had no trouble coming through when it counted. They skirted past the Herndon Hornets 3-1. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 1-0 victory the Hornets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

AJ Pritchard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on ten hits and racked up ten Ks. Westfield is undefeated when Pritchard posts eight or more strikeouts, but 7-17 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jonah Meyer, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. He is becoming a predictor of Westfield's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is 2-1 (and 8-16 when he doesn't).

Westfield's win bumped their record up to 10-17. As for Herndon, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-8-1.

As of now, neither Westfield nor the Hornets have any future games scheduled.
