Basketball Recap: Big Valley Beats Butte Valley for Their Third Straight Win

Big Valley won the last time they faced Butte Valley and things went their way on Thursday too. Everything went the Big Valley Cardinals' way against the Butte Valley Bulldogs as the Big Valley Cardinals made off with a 58-37 win. The Cardinals pushed the score to 47-16 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldogs cut but never quite recovered from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Big Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Josue Barba, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. Barba has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Juan Flores, who posted 16 points and six assists.

Big Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The victory was the third in a row for Big Valley, bringing their record for this year to 9-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.7 points per game. As for Butte Valley, they dropped their record down to 0-16 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Big Valley Cardinals challenge the Dunsmuir Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Butte Valley has already played their next matchup (against Tulelake), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
