Soccer Game Preview: Centralia vs. Mascoutah

Centralia is 0-9 against Mascoutah since October of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The Orphans will welcome the Indians at 10:00 a.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Centralia fell victim to Massac County and their airtight defense on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots. While losing is never fun, Centralia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 342nd, while Massac County are ranked 166th).

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Mascoutah was not quite Highland's equal in the second half on Thursday. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 1-0.

Mascoutah's loss dropped their record down to 10-7-2. As for Centralia, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.

Centralia might still be hurting after the 8-1 loss they got from Mascoutah in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Orphans were down 5-1.
