The Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks will welcome the Middletown Middie Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Newburgh Free Academy is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Monroe-Woodbury on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Goldbacks were beaten by the Crusaders 49-15. While losing is never fun, the Goldbacks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Crusaders are ranked 20th).

Meanwhile, Middletown had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They strolled past the Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 26-12.

Middletown now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Newburgh Free Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3.
