Basketball Recap: Wake Forest Takes a Loss

Wake Forest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They fell 38-25 to the Heritage Huskies. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 36-22 last Wednesday.

Despite the loss, Wake Forest saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Taylor McCartney went 5 of 10 en route to 15 points. That's the most points McCartney has posted since back in December of 2023.

Wake Forest's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Heritage, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-10.

Wake Forest and Heritage could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Wake Forest will take on Wakefield at 5:30 p.m. on Friday down 278 places (292 vs. 14). Similarly, Heritage (ranked 212th) will meet Knightdale (ranked 85th) at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
