Basketball Game Preview: Somerville Yeguas vs. Bremond Tigers

The Somerville Yeguas will face off against the Bremond Tigers at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Somerville is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

Somerville's tournament run continued when they took on Live Oak Classical on Saturday. Somerville was beaten by Live Oak Classical 54-24. The match marked the Yeguas' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Bremond faced off against Abbott on Saturday. Bremond wrapped up 2024 with a 44-26 win over Abbott. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Bremond's win came from a few key players Somerville will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Carson Crowley, who posted ten points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Williams, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 11 points and seven rebounds.

Bremond smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

The victory got Bremond back to even at 2-2. As for Somerville, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

Somerville won a match that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, slipping by Bremond 51-50. Does Somerville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bremond turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
