Basketball Recap: Braden River Takes a Loss

If Braden River was feeling good fresh off their 71-26 takedown of Southeast on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pirates lost to the Sarasota Sailors on the road by a 77-63 margin on Friday. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Sailors recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Braden River lost, don't look at Anquan Polynice. Despite the final result, he shot 43% from the field en route to 20 points. Polynice has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Anthony Bailey, who posted 13 points and five steals.

Braden River's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Braden River will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Parrish Community at 7:30 p.m. on the 2nd. As for Sarasota, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 74-60 victory against Winthrop College Prep Academy on the 24th.
