Soccer Game Preview: Johnsburg Central vs. Schroon Lake

Johnsburg Central hasn't had much luck against Schroon Lake recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Jaguars will challenge the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

While Johnsburg Central fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Wednesday's season opener. They were the clear victors by a 5-1 margin over Keene Central on September 3rd. The contest was close at halftime, but Johnsburg Central turned on the heat in the second half with three goals.

Meanwhile, Schroon Lake had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.2 goals) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Warriors a 7-0 shutout. It was an even better day for Nathan Melville as he scored three goals for his team.

Johnsburg Central suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Schroon Lake in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Jaguars were down 6-0.
