Volleyball Recap: Paul Laurence Dunbar Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Franklin County typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Paul Laurence Dunbar proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Flyers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 back in April.

The win didn't come easy: Franklin County scored at least 18 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 17-25, 25-18, 25-21.

Zahid Diaz paced Paul Laurence Dunbar's offense, picking up 14 kills. Diaz got some help from Luis Mata and his 24 assists. Mata was also solid from the service line: he led the team with three aces.

The victory was the third in a row for Paul Laurence Dunbar, bringing their record up to 9-7. As for Franklin County, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-10.

Looking ahead, Paul Laurence Dunbar will take on Henry Clay at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Devils will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. Franklin County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
