Baseball Recap: Hilmar Beats Le Grand for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Hilmar put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Le Grand Bulldogs 11-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Yellowjackets also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Caleb Contreras and Xavier Silveira dominated on the mound. Contreras pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits, while Silveira pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

At the plate, Tanner Westmoreland was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (four). Jacob Sward was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double.

Hilmar always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Hilmar pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs over those games. As for Le Grand, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Hilmar will head out on the road to square off against Los Banos at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hilmar's pitching crew has only allowed 1.3 runs per game this season, so Los Banos' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Le Grand, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Sierra at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
